About Me

My photo
so as much as i'd love to have photoshop for my life, it just isn't going to happen. so here I go, blogging about my life, my photography . . . in a non-photoshopped sort of way. life can get pretty messy, but I am thankful that my God is always there, no matter how imperfect and flawed I may be.

{out.of.the.{lunch}.box}

>> Tuesday, May 25, 2010

So with a little more flexibility in my schedule (and I stress little), I have designed my latest venture, “out of the {lunch} box,” which is my fresh take on school photography. It has come to my attention after speaking with various parents that virtually NO ONE likes the school pictures, but almost EVERYONE feels compelled to buy the school pictures! Seriously. These school pictures stink. So, I am sending a new idea your way, in which groups of 8 or more come to a fun location to get pictures that actually LOOK like the kids you know and love (most of the time). AND, with super reasonable prices, it’s a no brainer. (I mean, hello, $16 for 1 5x7, 2 4x6's, and 4 wallets. Come on now.) Pass this info along to everyone you know. Even complete strangers (as long as they're not creepy). I'm so pumped about this!! Aren't you?

{the.first.of.many.graduations}

>> Monday, May 24, 2010

So Friday was Delaney's big preschool graduation. And I must say, for a preschool graduation, it was none too shabby. The graduates were ADORABLE in their caps and "gowns" (aka men's short sleeve white shirts worn backwards). Now, I don't want to make any presumptions, but I'm pretty sure that Delaney was placed at the front of the line for a good reason. We love that girl with all of our hearts, but she is not the swiftest of movers, and I'm pretty sure the Bluffton Academy staff was worried the preschool graduation would never begin if Delaney was left to her own accord. So, there she came, front and center, holding her beloved teacher's hand. She was all smiles and was super excited to join her friends in this graduation. Delaney spaced out from time to time, lost her hat during the big song and dance, and did exactly as we'd expect Delaney to do. But, in the end, we were most proud of her, and we are praying that this is the first of MANY graduations. You know what I mean, right?

Photographer's Note: Please ignore the quality of these pictures. I am SO over the top A-type with, um, everything, but because of the brevity and nature of this preschool graduation, the pictures are not just as I would have them. But, I keep telling myself it's about the MOMENT, not that I had my f-stop just right or my shutter speed on the money. Just tell me it's OK, so I can let it go.

{i.heart.faces.yellow.week}

It's yellow week over at i.heart.faces, and I have LOVED seeing so many creative takes on this! Here's my contribution for "yellow" week! I immediately thought of the beloved daffodil fields just down the road from us, and, while this was definitely not the greatest photo op for the girls, my great friend's kids were so precious with each other. I {heart} this one. :-) Head on over to http://iheartfaces.blogspot.com for more yellow loveliness!

You know I love these babies. And I love to give them back. I still have recurring nightmares from Addy. No offense, sweet pea. And aren't these babies PRECIOUS?? I mean seriously. GOR.GEOUS.

I've had so many delightful sessions lately, and I haven't had the time to post them all, so here's one big ol' blog post. God has so blessed me with a "job" that I l.o.v.e. It's so much fun discovering the beauty inside each person I photograph. Enjoy!
