About Me

My photo
so as much as i'd love to have photoshop for my life, it just isn't going to happen. so here I go, blogging about my life, my photography . . . in a non-photoshopped sort of way. life can get pretty messy, but I am thankful that my God is always there, no matter how imperfect and flawed I may be.

Tis the season for everyone and the brother to be photographed, and I couldn't be happier . . . and crazier. I have had SO much fun meeting new families and catching up with families that allow me the privilege to capture precious moments multiple times. Would I have ever imagined what God would do when I picked up my first DSLR (super fast, super expensive) camera almost two years ago? And I never would have bothered had our house not sold. See, even when things don't go according to plan, they are always going according to God's plan, which is always WAY better than what I had mapped out in my head. THIS is the day that the Lord has made. REJOICE and be glad in IT. I am rejoicing as I continue to drown in a sea of pictures. Blessings abound! To each of you who have entrusted me to capture a few moments with your family, you are a blessing to me and to my family. Truly. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. You just never know what God has planned.

{how.to.select.a.library.book}

So we went to the library yesterday in desperate search of something free to do that would require my children behaving. The girls love the library, especially Addy and, so, it seemed like a great choice. And it was. (Now, there have been times when it has been a poor choice. Like the time I had to grab each girl and physically carry them out, kicking and screaming - LOUDLY - because they both wanted the life size Elmo. The library has since purchased an additional life sized Elmo. I'd like to think we had a part in that.) Anyway, it was time to select books, and I'm always intrigued to see what the girls select. They are allowed to pick out a whopping two books because their A type mom can't stand the thought of losing a library book and having to face a librarian. So, here's what Addy picked: A Christmas book (it's never too early, right?) and a book we already had at home. I attempted to explain to Addy that we already had this particular book, but she would hear nothing of it. She was getting it. Period. And I wasn't about to be embarassed with a lovely throw down. Then, Delaney returned (much later . . . Delaney is rarely if ever in a hurry) with her two books. She also had selected a Christmas book (I blame this on Lowe's who has already put out a full Christmas display), and a book entitled, "Thank You, Dr. Martin Luther King." Now, please understand, I'm delighted she picked it out, but between the Christmas books, a book we already had, and this, it made for quite an interesting check out. The check out lady kept glancing back up at us, and I just smiled. And continue to smile as I read the Christmas stories and the book we already had and the book all about Martin Luther King Jr. (which was quite LONG) again and again and again. Stay tuned for next week's check out list. I know you're on the edge of your seat.

So I have several family sessions AND A WEDDING to edit . . . THIS WEEK. To say the least, I am overwhelmed but SO super grateful at the same time. I am amazed at the doors that God has opened, and I know that without Him, Silly Goose Photography would simply not be. So, to all of my precious clients out there, you truly are a blessing to my family. Truly. I actually get to do something that I LOVE. Like photograph this sweet baby. What a gift.

I know you've missed me. I have been buried under about a billion pictures that begged to be edited. I have emerged, but only briefly, as I will be right back under my pile in a matter of hours. But, for now, here's what I've been working on. I promise I'll be back.

I had the utmost privilege of photographing a local preschool the other day, and I LOVED it. I think preschoolers are a RIOT, and I had SO much fun! (I also needed a nap afterwards!) These kiddos were a blast to photograph, and I am praying that God will open some more preschool doors (hint, hint to anyone out there with a preschooler), as I think I would just love to do more preschools. Can you stand the preciousness?

P.S. I am drowing in a sea of unedited pictures. I will try and resurface when I can. :-)
