No, seriously. It WAS a Kodak moment . . . the last name of the precious (and large!) family that I photographed was indeed KODAK! No pressure there, right? As I drove to this session, the sky kept getting darker and darker, and I was praying my little heart out that the rain would hold enough long enough to get this session in. (Of course, I got lost getting there . . . again. Willy someone PLEASE buy me a GPS system??) I barely met everyone, and we were snapping pictures like crazy! BUT, the rain did indeed hold off, and we even got to go to the beach and play around! That has to be one of my favorite pasttimes . . . taking pictures of precious kids while they play at the beach. SOOO fun! Kodak family, I hope you see some Kodak moments in your session! I loved it!
P.S. Can you tell which one wasn't a fan of my camera? None of my goofiness worked.

Hey everyone! I had an opportunity to work with Bella Baby, taking pictures at Hilton Head Regional Hospital of all of the newborns. However, many red flags have occurred, and it seems that it's just not going to work out. Bummer. But, as I well know, God has a plan!! And, if this wasn't part of His plan, then I am grateful for the red flags. Just wanted to keep everyone posted!

I had to post one more from this session! It's actually a storyboard, but you'll need the story. W decided to pretend to be the ice cream man, and then, after each person ordered, he pretended to throw the ice cream in their face! It was a riot! So, while these pictures aren't perfect, they made me laugh! I love how kids come up with things, and then think they are super funny. My camera was wiggling all over the place from me laughing as I tried to grab these shots. Enjoy!

I had the privilege again of photographing one ADORABLE little boy that I remembered vividly because of his beautiful blond curls. Can you stand it?? His parents were in town, and I was THRILLED to have the opportunity to photograph him and his beautiful family. Thankfully, the weather cooperated (not so much for my session last night . . . more to come), and we had a beautiful evening out at Palmetto Bluff. I'm super excited because when this family comes back next year, there will be TWO! Congratulations, guys!

On a side note, we welcomed Anna, our new fish, yesterday. Addy picked out a fish that doesn't really look anything like Howard and that's probably good. I think I would have flashbacks of Howard sliding down the sink and hear the disposal running each time. UGH. Animal lover, I am not, apparently. And neither is Addy. She sloshed poor Anna around at the store until I thought we would have to replace her before I ever got her home. Thankfully, Anna, the fish, has destressed and seems to be adjusting well.

I can't say that this has been a stellar week for me. I'm not really sure what started it, but I would love to end it . . . and soon. Sadly, it's only Wednesday. My latest turn on this downward sprial occurred about ten minutes ago. In a frenzy to get lots of things accomplished in a short amount of time, I grabbed Howard, the fish's, bowl and set out to give him non-smelly, non-murky, non-fishy water. I generally grab a small piece of tupperware and pour Howard into that while I clean his bowl. As I was pouring Howard into his bowl, he literally jumped out and into our kitchen sink. Unfortunately, I couldn't react fast enough and he slid down the sink and into the dish drain. Like any compassionate person, I turned on the dish disposal, as I knew there was no hope in saving him. I didn't want him just floundering down there, right? Should I cry? It's a fish, for crying out loud. But, he did make it a super long time in our family. So, I bring the empty bowl to the girls and explain that Howard is gone. Addy perks up and explains that we can just get a new Howard, but Delaney is harder to convince. After a small discussion, Delaney agrees that Addy and I can go and get a new Howard tomorrow while she's in school. I think I should purchase one of those nets too . . . Pouring fish is apparently not my gift.

On another note, my beloved kitchenaid was also pronounced dead earlier this week. I think I was much more sad about that than the fish, if I'm being truthful. Besides, fish are a lot cheaper than kitchenaids. Clearly, my compassion this week is declining rapidly. I need prayer.

So, it's clear that I can be a directional moron all by myself. I was headed to a sweet friend's house this afternoon, and she explained that once I got my pass at the gate (you see, there are LOTS of "plantations" around here that require a pass to enter the neighborhood) there would be super simple directions to follow. Right. For most people. Enter directional moron.

I stop at the gate and flash my most confident smile as the guard explains how to get to my friend's house. Easy, easy, he says. In fact, he says, there is someone right ahead of me that is also going to that same house. My prayers have been answered, I think! I can just follow this blessed soul right to the house. I smile happily as I put my car in drive and follow the car in front of me. It's clear within a few minutes that neither of us know where we're going. She pulls over (I knew who she was) and says, "What did we do wrong?" Of course, I have no clue. Then she says, "I'm following YOU." Oh, sweet soul. Do you know what you just said? YOU are going to follow ME? Not good. Not good at all. So, I flash my most confident smile and off we go, attempting to follow the directions again . . . like there's some hidden road we missed the first three times. Finally, I pull over and brilliantly say, "I'm going back to the guard at the gate. He'll help us, right?"

Now, at this point, if I had any pride, I must throw it out my car window. I pull back up to the guard gate and flash my most confident smile. I say, "Clearly I must have missed my turn. Would you explain this to me one more time?" As he tries really, really hard not to laugh, he says, "You see that sign right up there?" Yes, of course I see that sign. "That's where you turn, ma'am." Oh my goodness. I feel like the biggest moron ever. I could have thrown a rock from the guard gate to the turn I was supposed to make. Then, he says, "I have a security guard waiting to escort you to her house." I follow the security guard to my friend's house. Delaney could have gotten there on her bike. I almost thought the security guard was going to wait for me to come back out so he could personally escort the directional moron (a.k.a. ME) out of the plantation. Embarassment. Humility. Want-to-kick-myself.

Thankfully, I made it out just fine. The guards are STILL laughing as I leave the gate. Lovely.

So I'm falling more and more in love with wedding photography, as it's so incredible to capture the emotion of such a huge day. I think what I enjoyed the most was capturing those priceless moments when people weren't necessarily aware that I was taking their picture. Those were the pictures that made me smile the most, for sure. Of course, some of these pictures are not perfect, but they are so precious. Smile with me. :-)
